River Crossing YMCA offers adapted activities for youth, teens, and adults that include swim lessons, land fitness classes, one-on-one fitness instruction, karate, summer camp, teen nights and afterschool programs.
Programs for Youth with Special Needs

Ability Day Off School Camp
Day off school camp is available for children of all abilities on days when schools are closed and families are looking for fun, safe and engaging coverage for their children. Elementary (age 6-12) and teen (age 13-21) groups available.

Ability Summer Day Camp
Summer camp programs are available for individuals with special needs in grade K through age 26. Join us for an immersive, mainstream-inclusive summer camp program for children, teens and young adults.

Ability Teen Night
Typically held the twice a month during the school year, activities include swimming, dancing, sports, games and more.

Adapted Mainstream Classes
The Y offers sports, fitness and humanities activities and programs for all ages.

Seekers
Seekers is a seasonal recreation program (Sept–June) for adults 18+ with special needs, featuring crafts, gym games, optional swimming, and social fun.

Ability Community Recreation Workshops
Adults 18+ with special abilities can enjoy engaging community recreation workshops, offering a variety of fun and inclusive activities in each class.

Beyond Limits: Ability Adult Social Events
Beyond Limits offers monthly social events for adults of all abilities, celebrating talents, achievements, and inclusivity while building confidence and connections!

Adapted Personal Training
Adapted Personal Training (12+) offers one-on-one fitness sessions with a certified instructor, tailored to your individual goals.

Adapted Swim and Private/Semi-Private Lessons
The Y offers adapted swim lessons, available one-on-one or semi-private, designed for individuals with special needs.

Biking 101
Biking 101 is a seasonal program for ages 7+ with disabilities, teaching basic cycling skills with a certified instructor; a cycling evaluation is required before enrollment.

Employee Mentorship Training
Employee Mentorship Training (16+) pairs mentees with a job coach for weekly one-on-one sessions in an 8-week program, gaining hands-on experience in various YMCA roles.

Special Olympics Swim Team
The Special Olympics Dolphins Swim Team offers athletic competition for ages 12+ with special needs. Swimmers must understand freestyle or backstroke, swim independently, and participate in a group.
