Ability Membership
An ABILITY membership is available to those who qualify offering membership and programs at a reduced rate. The membership is designed so that members can be safe and successful while using the facility or participating in programs, with the assistance of a caregiver. Register in-person at our Welcome Center.

Programs for Youth with Special Needs
Ability Day Off School Camp
Day off school camp is available for children of all abilities on days when schools are closed and families are looking for fun, safe and engaging coverage for their children. Elementary (age 6-12) and teen (age 13-21) groups available.
Ability Summer Day Camp
Summer camp programs are available for individuals with special needs in grade K through age 26. Join us for an immersive, mainstream-inclusive summer camp program for children, teens and young adults.
Ability Teen Night
For ages 14-21 | Typically held the twice a month during the school year, activities include swimming, dancing, sports, games and more.
Mainstream Classes
The Y offers sports, fitness and humanities activities and programs for all ages.

Seekers
Age 18 + | Runs seasonally September through June. A recreation program for adults with special needs to enjoy a variety of structured activities, including crafts, pool (optional), gym games and ample social opportunities with peers.
Ability Community Recreation Workshops
Adults with special abilities are invited to join us for these community recreation workshops providing a variety of recreational opportunities at each class.

Biking 101
Biking 101 is an individualized program for children and adults age 7+ with disabilities focusing on basic cycling skills taught by a Certified League Cycling Instructor with experience working with children and adults with special needs. A cycling evaluation is required prior to enrolling in cycling lessons. The evaluation involves a 30-minute phone call interview with the parent/guardian and a 30-minute in-person live skills evaluation.

Employee Mentorship Training
Age 16+ | Employee mentees will be paired with a job coach who will work with them once a week for 1.5 hours per class in a 8-week session/rotation. The session would be 1:1 for a time that works
with both the job coach and the mentee. The YMCA job can change after 8 weeks or the mentee can stay in the same role if more mastery is needed. Current job positions include Welcome Center, health & wellness coach, swim deck coordinator.

Special Olympics Swim Team
The Special Olympics Dolphins Swim Team is a volunteer organization that introduces individuals, ages 12 to adults, with special needs to athletic competition. Swimmers participating in this program should successfully demonstrate an understanding of the basic technique in at least freestyle or backstroke; must be able to participate in a group, and swim independently without any assistance. <Email here> for more information.
