FLEMINGTON - YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties hosted its 31st Annual Comedy Night on Friday, November 17 at the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse in Hampton, New Jersey. With over 300 comedy fans in attendance, the event raised more than $110,000 for the YMCA’s financial assistance program. In addition to a silent auction, the event included a “Send a Kid to Camp” appeal which raised funds to provide financial assistance for 130 children to attend YMCA day camp this summer.
Comics Matt Jenkins, Ophira Eisenberg and Joe Matarese entertained the crowd there to support the Y. Guest speakers included Debra Wieben, who shared her family’s love for YMCA Camp Carr in Annandale, and US Air Force Veteran Richard Karass, who extolled the benefits of the Y’s free Veterans Wellness Pathway program, which is funded by donors. Tom Lamarca was honored with the YMCA Distinguished Service Award for his years of service on the Hunterdon County YMCA board, many as volunteer finance committee chair.
“The support we receive at Comedy Night for the Y's financial assistance program grows every year,” said Jason Halpin, Chair of YMCA Comedy Night. “To raise more than $110,000 in one night is an incredible achievement that will help countless kids and families take part in Y programs like summer camp, child care, and more. We are grateful to the sponsors, attendees, and volunteers who made this event possible.”
