In Summer 2021, YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties promoted a diversity and inclusion art contest encouraging members of all ages to create original artwork based on the theme of diversity and inclusion.
Inclusion creates an environment of belonging, where we are valued for who we are and what makes us unique. Our layers of diversity (ability, age, cultural background, ethnicity, faith, gender, gender identity, ideology, income, national origin, race or sexual orientation) form a filter through which we view and experience the world. Art is a form of expression that showcases many diverse ideas, passions and talents and can help unify us and make the world a better place.
The original artwork was required to incorporate ideas and visual interpretations that support experiences with diversity, inclusion and feelings of belonging through programs and services offered at YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties.

Anthony Hunter II The YMCA has always been a beacon of hope in my eyes especially for our youth. For this illustration, I wanted it to represent us as a community "planting the seeds" for the future. I believe you train up a child as they should grow and allow them to blossom like a Sunflower. With activities also included in the illustration provided by the Y it allows our children to grow together and learn more about inclusion and being unified. |

Eliana Weiss My art piece is about how people may look different and be different but we are all human beings and we're all unique in our own way. No one can take that away from you because that is who you are. When you are kind, they'll be kind to you. |
